Useful points from 2019 A Level examiners report
- An AB social conscious audience need a variety of views and need to be immersed in more diversity, so the successful magazines used different nationalities, classes, genders, ethnicities and aspirations
- Having models from at least 2 different social groups is a key part of the brief - to represent the whole of society and be an inclusive product, appealing to wider audiences
- cross media convergence is key to link and maintain a strong brand identity, so remember to link the magazine to the website and vice versa
- don't forget little things which give a magazine it's format - price, barcode, date
- ensure locations/costumes look professional and fit the brand of the magazine - wide range of locations to not make the shooting look last minute
- take advantage of cover lines - if images don't necessarily target the demographic, advertise high end fashion brands, for example
- remember the key phrase 'first two editions' - do not reference previous franchise! This is a new magazine brand that will continue on to be a franchise but did not exist before
- make sure to record every step of the research and planning - it shows how you get to each stage and shows a greater understanding of the chosen brief
- take much more footage than you need to incorporate in various ways in the website and the contents pages - shows extra work done
- think of strong branding and colour palette to stand out from other products
